Leaders aren't chosen, they're called.

After his false arrest at the 1965 Watts Riots, Richard Kelly (Cedric Sanders) finds himself serving probation at an all-white seminary where he is faced with racism, daily abuse and lack of support. However, as the school's first black student, Richard is welcomed by its progressive president Alan Beckett (William Devane), but he soon learns that the school wants black followers not leaders. Even former missionary Kate Allison (Lauren Holly) rejects him.

Just when Richard reaches his breaking point, he meets Samuel Benton (Louis Gossett, Jr.), an elderly janitor and unlikely mentor who lives in the basement of his dormitory. As Samuel guides Richard through the trials of racism and his personal demons, he soon undergoes a transformation that forces him to choose between his dreams and his destiny.

Another GREAT Christian film, inspired by a true story.  Some really great moments throughout this film!  Check out the CFDb Movie Review.
